OSR2 hangs with 3Com 3c562 PC card due to power management conflict.
Cause:
The 3Com 3c562 PC card comes with its own power management feature. This power management feature conflicts with the power management feature of Windows 95 OSR2.
Solution:
Start the computer in Safe Mode. Double-click the 'Power' icon in 'Control Panel'. Clear the 'Turn off the PC Card modem when not in use' check box. Remove the 3Com 3c562 PC card from the socket. Restart the computer.
1) Remove the 3Com 3c562 PC card from the socket.
2) Restart the computer.
3) Press F8 when the message 'Starting Windows 95' appears. (A menu of starting options appears.)
4) Click the 'Safe Mode' option. (Windows 95 starts and the word 'Safe Mode' appears in the corners of the screen.)
5) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
6) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
7) Double-click the 'Power' icon. (The 'Power Properties' dialog box appears.)
8) Click the 'PC Card Modem' tab.
9) Clear the 'Turn off PC Card modem when not in use' check box.
10) Click 'OK' to close the 'Power Properties' dialog box.
11) Restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
